• What is Mystery Shopping?

It is a service that businesses use to measure the quality of service provided by their staff. Businesses subsequently use this information to improve their service through training.

• What is my Role as a Mystery Shopper?

When we have trained you, your role will be to visit shops, cafes and other service environments posing as a real customer, experience the service offered by the staff and complete a questionnaire that we provide to report on that service experience.

• Do I have to go in disguise?

No, most real shoppers dress as they wish but we may recommend a dress code for specific outlets, e.g. your presentation at a Builder’s Merchant should be different from visiting a high profile Department Store!

• What talents do I need?

There are no specific educational qualifications but you must be confident, accurate, reliable, calm and have an excellent memory!

• Do I get paid?

Yes!  Payment is per assignment and payments vary according to the complexity of the visit.  Your status is that of short term contractor and as such, you have the right to accept or refuse assignments. Payments are made gross and it is your responsibility to declare your earnings to the Inland Revenue.

• Is it a full-time job?

No! …and it’s not really suitable for those who do have full-time jobs!  Although there are some weekend and evening assignments, most visits are required during weekday ‘office’ hours so it is important to have some time available during these periods.

Most assignments take less than an hour of your time. The number of assignments we will be able to offer you will be dictated partly by where you live.  Those in the major cities may be offered more frequent assignments.

Mystery Shoppers are free to sign-up with other Mystery Shopping or Market Research agencies although all documentation must be kept confidential.

• Is it a difficult job?

Not at all. However, you MUST read the briefs and questionnaires carefully then follow each instruction precisely. These reports are used in the store you have visited so your report has to be truthful and accurate

• Am I under contract?

No.  You are under no obligation to accept any individual assignment we may offer you and we do not promise to award you specific quantities of assignments.  However, when you do accept an assignment, we expect shoppers to faithfully carry out that assignment under the terms in which it is issued.
